Elbow arthrodesis following failed reconstructive surgeries. Report of two cases

Elbow arthrodesis is used as a salvage procedure in cases of massive elbow articular destruction for which neither reconstruction of articular surface nor arthroplasty are amenable. The main aim is to achieve a rigid fusion in an optimum position according to patient needs which oscillates between 90 and 110 degrees, and can be achieved with different techniques such as, external fixation, posterior or anterior compression plates, or compression screws. Two cases are presented in whom successful elbow arthrodesis was achieved with posterior compression plates after numerous failed elbow surgeries.
