Abstract

Internal snapping hip is a syndrome caused by an abnormal motion of iliopsoas tendon on the femoral head. This phenomenon asymptomatically occurs in 5-10 % of general population. Nevertheless, sometimes it may be symptomatic accompanied by functional limitation and pain in the affected hip. The diagnosis is clinical, but radiological imaging help rule out other causes of the pain. Non surgical treatment is the first option. But if symptoms persist, open or arthroscopic surgery would be considered. The arthroscopic tenotomy has shown good clinical results without significant differences regarding the level of cut; also, this way have less risk of complications than open surgery, so it is now a good alternative for many authors. This article describes the arthroscopic technique of iliopsoas transcapsular tenotomy with radiofrequency.
