The fibular hemimelia syndrome includes a wide range of problems among which can be found varying degrees of fibular hypoplasia, knee joint laxity, hypoplastic lateral femoral condyle, genu valgus, angular deformities of the tibia, shortening of both femur and tibia, tarsal coalitions, agenesis of the lateral beams of the foot, and equinovalgus foot deformity. However, the association of clubfoot deformity with fibular hemimelia is more common than previously reported. A relatively consistent finding is the presence of a coalition of the hindfoot, and this condition should be anticipated by the surgeon treating the clubfoot. In this paper a case is presented of a fibular hemimelia associated with clubfoot in a patient previously treated with unsuccessful conventional methods of management for the clubfoot, by omitting the presence of hindfoot and tarsal coalition.
