Ocronosis: reporte de caso y revisión de la literatura

La manifestación musculoesquelética de la alcaptonuria es conocida como ocronosis, una enfermedad de baja prevalencia del metabolismo del ácido homogentísico. Se presenta el caso y el tratamiento ofrecido a una mujer de 56 años que mostró artropatía ocronótica con manifestación en hombros y rodillas. Además, se intenta sintetizar la fisiopatología, los hallazgos clínicos y patológicos de esta enfermedad, así como sus alternativas de manejo. Este caso merece ser reportado puesto que hay muy pocos pacientes diagnosticados con esta enfermedad y escasas imágenes intraarticulares del hombro afectado, debido a su baja prevalencia y a la alta de sospecha clínica requerida para realizar su oportuno diagnóstico.
