Resumen

La lesión de la arteria axilar en fracturas de húmero proximal es una lesión rara, pero, dada su gran morbilidad, debe ser sospechada en pacientes con fracturas gravemente desplazadas. Se presenta el caso de una mujer de 85 años sin signos aparentes de lesión vascular, con laceración de la arteria axilar que solo se diagnosticó en cirugía, por lo que requirió injerto de safena como tratamiento de la lesión vascular y cambió el planteamiento quirúrgico.
