Juvenile and infantile hallux valgus is usually a hereditary condition and rarely symptomatic in this age group. It can become symptomatic by the use of footwear, and treatment must begin with changes in footwear and lifestyle, Surgical treatment is reserved for those cases in which non-surgical treatment has failed. There is no single procedure that resolves all the conditions, and the presence of the open physis must be taken into account to make the decision. The surgery is based on osteotomies, soft tissue procedures, or arthrodesis.
