Complications of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Current concepts

Complications of arthroscopic shoulder surgery are events that the surgeons would like not to have; unfortunately, its incidence varies between 5.8 and 19.5% including: common complications of any surgery; common complications to any arthroscopic procedure on the shoulder, and specific complications to an arthroscopic repair of rotator cuff. Any of these complications may occur before, during and after surgery. In general, the complications of arthroscopic repair of the rotator cuff, for experienced authors can reach about 10%, the most frequent in order are: stiffness, no scarring - re-rupture, pain syndrome, and rarely infection. Therefore it is important to understand that the surgeon must live with the concept and the reality of his own learning curve in the management of these injuries.
