Abstract

Since its inception, SCCOT, as an academic and scientific society, has been concerned with organizing events for the training and updating of its members, as well as informing them about topics of interest to the profession. The first national congress was held in 1956 and has been held every year since then. In 2005, the society celebrated its golden anniversary. The insignia that identify the SCCOT are its logo, coat of arms, anthem, and flag. The history of the society's scientific events, the distinctive insignia and logos of the SCCOT, its international affiliations, publications, and awards are reviewed, and a section on the arts and letters in Colombian orthopedics is presented.
