Abstract

Talus, calcaneal and plafond fractures affect lower limb with such frequency, 3%, 60% and 10% respectively. However it hasn’t ever been described in literature the association of these. A 16-year-old woman came to Hospital Universitario San Jorge de Pereira in 1998, after falling from the posterior compartment of the vehicle she was travelling on, she was diagnosed plafond fracture associated to open fibular fracture, concomitant to calcaneal and talus fracture. After an adequate medical and surgical management, she recovered the totality of lower limb’s functions. In several articles, it was found the association of two of these fractures, but never the association of those four. As a conclusion, the age, the premorbid condition and the adequate medical care contribute to a satisfactory recovery.
Evidence Level: IV.
