Abstract

Entrapment syndromes of peripheral nerves in the upper limbs are easy to clinically diagnose in advanced cases of the disease, but are difficult to diagnose in early cases of in various situations. Ulnar nerve entrapment can occur in the epitrochlear-olecranon canal in Struthers arcade or distally in Guyon’s canal in the wrist. The diagnostic approach should be based on the patient’s clinical signs and symptoms, and confirmed by electromyography with nerve conduction velocities of upper limbs. The surgical management of this condition may be an open or endoscopic approach where the surgical incisions are much smaller, but the soft tissue release is equal.
A case is presented of ulnar nerve decompression using an endoscopic technique and medial epicondylar osteotomy. Satisfactory results were achieved in terms of improving the patient’s clinical course completely free of symptoms and with no post-operative functional limitation.
Evidence level: IV.
